The Pain of Finding out you have to change topics to Harry Potter a day before the post is due...

I would like to start this post by saying that Harry, as someone in "HP 7" described Bathilda Bagshot, is "nutty as squirrel poo!" He has so many internal issues, and JK Rowling really should have fleshed them out better.

Harry is parentless. This proves bad on few levels. In the material world, Harry didn't know what the fairy tale book in the the story had anything to do with their quest. And this was really bad, because it took them half of the book to find out about them. And I like how Hermione is the one who figured it out, and she's muggle born!!!!!

On the other hand, Harry lacks the parental guidance he needs to be a grownup. His parents would have showed him, but without them he's stuck in the 11 year old mind state he had when he entered Hogwarts. Not good! He's impulsive, but this brings me to another theme I noticed.

Harry's dad's friends, such as Lupin and Sirius, are like fathers to him. They lived on, so that he could grow up learning lessons from each one of them. The only issue is they all died, so he is basically tight, because he had a father figure, and he got deaded(killed) in the battle for Hogwarts.

A Great Perhaps

"Looking For Alaska". Three words that sound like the worst book ever. I mean, who would want to read about an explorer looking for a state that no one cares about?

Wait. That's not what the books about. At all.

Miles Halter(Pudge) is attending a new boarding school. The weird thing is his parents have no idea why, because Pudge is friendless, and who wants to go boarding school anyway? Immediately after arriving at school he meets his roommate,The Colonel, who given his living situation, is insanely smart. But more importantly he meets the the books namesake, Alaska.

Alaska is everything Miles is not. She drinks cheap wine, and smokes entire cartons of cigarettes. She is the master of pranks at their boarding school. But for some strange reason, Miles falls in love.

Miles' reason for going to boarding school ties in with his obsession for memorizing peoples' last words. Francois Rabelais said "I go to seek a great perhaps" and while trying to hold back tears a realize that I'm in 8th grade.

Next year, we'll all be going to different schools, meeting new people, like Alaska or the Colonel, and most importantly we'll be leaving 51 behind. There's a scene in Charlotte's Web where Charlotte's children go off into the world to build their own webs. Even though Francois Rabelais' "great perhaps" was death, my great perhaps is a new world.

Going off into high school wont be easy, but I don't think dying was easy either. We are just like Charlotte's children. We are venturing out into the world to build our own webs, although Rabelais' words were mor poetic. "I go to seek a Great Perhaps." No one could have said it any better.

Vendetta of Reading Responses

I read V for Vendetta, graphic novel version. At first, I thought the this entire plot line was going to suck. The trailer for the movie made no sense, and I hate Sci-Fi/Dystopian anything. But I, my friends, could not have been more wrong.

V for Vendetta is a crazy story. It's mainly about this guy "V", who rescues this would-be-prostitute-getting-arrested. She helps him to commence his plan, which includes blowing up the House of Parliament, and killing off different important people. The girl, Evvey, feels resentment, but it's way complicated to explain, so you should read it instead.

I noticed this really weird, yet making-sense theme in the story. There aren't any blacks. There aren't any blacks and I think I know why. There were these camps, that V apparently escaped from. I'm not exactly sure what they were for, but I assume it has to do with an English Holocaust of some sorts. I mean, they live in this Dystopia similar to 1984. Theres lots of order. There's people assigned to seeing what others say, see, do, and smell. The nose, the ear, the nose, and the mouth all record and examine this information.

I think that the English government had this racist thing going, where they exterminated all the blacks, which isn't good. I think that V shouldn't be doing all these things as revenge for what was done to him in the camps. I think he should be getting revenge in the name of the people discriminated against

Rooftop

I just finished this book Rooftop It's about this kid, Clay, and his cousin Addison. Even though this is a spoiler I want to say that Addison is dumb for getting himself killed.

Addison is an african-american teenager who is screaming bang bang while holding something black up. I have no idea why the police would not shoot him. I know it sounds racist, but it's true. Addison's family has no one to blame. To rookie cops scared out of their pants WOULD shoot him, because he is/was a criminal. Therefor the Al Sharpton-y character shouldn't be all revolutionary about it.

Harry Potter #5

In the book Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry receives a vision in a dream that his Godfather Sirius is trapped in the basement of the wizard equivalent to the capitol. Harry is supposed have a mental bond with wizard villain of villains, Voldemort. Although this is true, Voldemort tested this and used it to his advantage, making Harry see what him (Voldemort) wanted him to see.

I think that Harry is simply ignoring the important facts. The headmaster Dumbledore has him trained in closing his mind out to other sources, and Harry SHOULD be practicing. Harry's had his guard off while sleeping, and Voldemort is shoving the images into his mind, because he knows his effect on Harry's thoughts. Sirius is Harry's only real relative that he really feels related to in a personal way, so of course Harry would come to his aid.

I'd really like to end this response by explaining that Harry is an idiot. First of all, how could Voldemort acquire Sirius so easily, and why would Sirius be at the ministry in the first place. He is a really good dueler, who wouldn't have succumbed to Voldemort without a fight. The Order (of the Phoenix) would have come to Sirius's aid already, so basically Harry fell for the simplest trick in the book, the make-harry-think-that-voldemort-has-sirius-because-harry-is-brainless trick.

Reading Blog thing NUMERO UNO

I think in the book "It's Kind of a Funny Story" the main character shouldn't have chosen Noelle as a love interest. First of all, she is mentally unstable, just like him. This is REALLY bad because it could cause conflict in the future. He can't think of her as an anchor because she's more unstable than he is. She harmed herself, which is way farther than he took it.

Second of all, she is way ugly. I don't really care if you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, because she has cuts ALL over her face, and the other girl that was looking at him was REALLY pretty, and it's not like she was significantly important. Dr. Minerva said not to make friends in a mental hospital with all the cookoo people, and she was right. This hospital is full of meth addicts and psychiatric patients who are afraid that if gravity is reversed they'll fall onto the ceiling.
